Fully Assembled ROV

Description

This ready-to-use ROV can be used to motivate your students and enhance your curriculum in many ways. A rechargeable 12-volt battery powers the camera, LED light cluster, and three motors (right, left, lift). Students quickly learn how to operate and maneuver the ROV while becoming deep ocean explorers, aquatic ecologists, or environmental scientists. The 50-foot tether allows for a large roaming environment. The possibilities are endless…just add water! TV monitor not included.

Warning:
•Keep fingers and tether away from propellers at all times
•Store battery in a cool, dry location
•Do not overheat or overcharge battery

Operating Instructions: before you operate…
•Apply foam pipe insulation (included) to the top of the ROV frame at the right and left sides to achieve neutral buoyancy. Make sure to use equal amounts on each side. With the power off, gently lower the ROV into the water. Keep adding/removing foam until the ROV is neutrally buoyant. Secure the foam with electrical tape. Sometimes the tether can be negatively buoyant enough to sink the ROV. If so, add small pieces of foam every 24 inches to achieve neutral buoyancy.

•The right and left propellers should be angled inward slightly to reduce tether entanglement.
•With ROV in water, turn on power. Apply forward power to right and left propellers to drive straight.

Notes:
•PVC pieces have not been glued together. This will allow you to change the frame design. Also, by not sealing the PVC pieces some water may leak into the frame, causing the ROV to lose neutral buoyancy. If this happens, choose one PVC connection and carefully separate the two pieces. Allow all the water to drain before reconnecting the PVC pieces.
